    Default Vu-rite footage counter

So not that anyone is actually going to read this cause this site is apparently dead, but I got a letter in the mail today from vu-rite stating the exciting news that they are offering cameras with onscreen footage counters and retro fits for old cameras!
It reminded me that I needed to send my vu-rite in for repair before the warranty runs dry. The locating sonde has broken within far less then ten months of ownership under what i would call medium duty.
Luckily, I have already replaced it with the ridgid mini reel which came with an on screen counter and a bunch of other perks, although at about twice the price.
I really dont know what to say about vu-rite. Not the worst investment I have ever made but part of me wishes I held out put the money toward a ridgid instead.

Yes and no. It certainly helped to have a camera in multiple cleaning situations and I did get several new customers based on diagnostic work and locations for plumbers alone. However, I could have done all that with the ridgid and had less headaches doing it due to ridgid's superior design. Now I have a back up camera in the vu-rite so I cant complain about that. But the sonde going on the blink in less than a year was a real bummer and the real cause for buying the ridgid in the same year(not budgeted for but has turned out to be a blessing.). In hind sight I wish I had bought the ridgid mini first and spent the vue-rite money on the ridgid micro reel instead. I had just read some really good reviews about vue-rite and thought I would see what the buzz was about. I have learned the hardway I guess.

Nope. Retrofitted for a few hundred dollars according to the flyer they sent me, which I have recycled.

You are not alone in your sewer camera journey, for years people have posted questions at buying a first camera and people usually tilt toward the Ridgid based on buying others and getting a Ridgid but that lower price gets people to pop off and they learn the hard way. I know I did, bought what I could afford at the time only to be a fail. So I did it, you did it and many many more will do it. I almost want to copy and paste your posts the next time someone asks about a sewer camera. (will save a lot of typing when they probably wont listen anyway) And yea now you have a back up camera!

I think pretty much everything in the discussion agreed the the Ridgid is far superior and pricier as well...

Starting out on a shoestring budget the Vu-Rite serves the means of getting a fairly affordable and reliable camera that will put you into making $$$ on repairs and replacements of lines that will ultimately buy you the Ridgid without running out of beans to eat....

Are you going to use it forever?
    Hell No!
If you are close to being able to afford the Ridgid by all means you should buy one....

Vu-Rite Cameras are a helluva lot better than getting roped in by the South Coast Equipment, Pro-Built Tools or whatever new name they are using in their cheap camera scam these days... Those will be lucky to get the 1st job done...

My vu-rite still works well with a bum design counter system I'm going to fiddle with it and see if I can make it better.
Honesty if I can turn back the clock I should ,have waited for more money to buy a Seesnake.
But I never lost money with the vu-rite and with my limited customer base and income the vu-rite was honesty the better fit.
But the ridgid is definitely a superior product
Counter sucks or at least mine does image is good on screen no blinking counter wheel makes poor contact on punch rod causing no counting of footage.
