Much like you guys can't find a good pizza and have never had a taste of one in your entire lives, we're a bit deprived here in CT when it comes to BBQ....

There is one place that stands out that I know of in the entire state...
Southern Que BarBQ, although I don't know if you would call it a restaurant, it's more like a trailer serving take out in the guys driveway, with picnic tables set up in the warm season...

I guess the guy is a South Carolina transplant so he knows what real BBQ is, just like you would need a guy transplanted from New Haven, CT or, NYC to show you what a real pizza is...

His food has some awesome flavor and I've enjoyed it often..

It's pretty bad here too. The nearest Arby's is over an hour away.

Those are the best kind. There's one around the corner from my shop. I can't even tell you the name of it. Used to be a drive in ice cream place years ago. I think it seats 4. When the wind blows right, I can smell the smoke at my shop. Awesome food and the owner is a good, hard working guy.

I'll agree with that! The food was awesome! Best I've ever had anywhere...

I asked the owner if they ever did competitions like some of the guys here are involved in.
He said, he did years ago, winning more than his fair share, but it is expensive and a lot of work to be involved in, and he has nothing to prove anymore. He said he is quite happy with Sunday as a day of rest, and cooking 700-900 lbs of meat Monday - Wednesday to be ready to serve it Thursday - Saturday.

    Default BBQ in NWO

Bringing this one back from the dead just to get in my two cents...

There's a few places around (and we've had some serious BBQ discussions at work), but the one I'd call the very best is Deet's.
