Default Don't use your blow bag and sewer camera at the same time!

Got a call this morning to assist a plumber in North Conway New Hampshire
He used his Ridgid see snake mini and a blow bag at the same time "snapped" his push rod at 48 feet. not in half just snapped the fiber glass inner push rod now he has no lights and no picture He called me to finish the camera inspection now he's stuck with a hefty re-term bill or push rod. I guess never use a blow bag and sewer camera at the same time!

Don't know why you would want to risk damaging your camera doing that...

I never shove 2 things down the drain at the same time.
Too much possibility one will get entangled with the other, and I don't like digging unless the customer pays.

I always wondered if that could be done.
Now I know the answer is.....NOPE! and the best part is, it didn't cost me $2000 to find that out.

    Thanks Rod

I was cleaning a sewer from the roof of a slab home last year. I stuck my camera down the main stack to take a peak when I was done.

I got distracted by talking to the homeowner. I then decided while I was on the roof, I'd run the kitchen drain from the other vent.

I start feeding cable in and then it hits me- MY CAMERA IS STILL IN THE MAIN!

I stop the machine. Heart pounding and hands trembling, I grab the push rod. I stop for a second, the lump growing larger in my throat. I'm close to throwing up.

I turn on the monitor- still have picture. I lightly pull on on the push rod. It moves freely and I can see the head move in the monitor. I pull it out, calling my self a dumb mudda fugga and thanking Jesus at the same time.

Had to sit on the roof for a few minutes and wait for my knees to quit shaking before climbing down.

Edit: this post works just as well n the "what have you learned from your mistakes" thread.

I never put the bag in with anything else, I figured it wouldn't seal and even if it did, that rubber gets awfully thin the bigger it gets. I did cable a drain and forgot to take the cable out as I was cutting the drain wondering what in the hell, why won't this stupid blade cut threw....DUH!!! Colgar, I have done the same thing with the camera and I know the same feeling....and your "boys" get all tingly as your sitting there afterwards....Rod...great story, reminds me to stay focused...be that fella wasn't to happy....
